2012 – “Keeping Tom Nice” by Lucy Gannon
Posted on: May 25, 2012 Doug and Winnie Davies have two children. Tom, a twenty-four year old severely disabled man and Charlotte (Charlie), his sister who is at university. Doug and Winnie have sacrificed all their married life into taking care of Tom, making sure that he is kept nice. They feed him, wash him, clothe him. It seems that the Davies’s are coping with the pressures and the stress this situation has put them in.
Stephen, the latest in a long line of social workers, assistants and medics, is not so sure. Stephen’s best intentions to relieve the tired parents and send them on a holiday sets off a tragic turn of events.
