MINI ENGLISH DRAMA FESTIVAL

The English Drama Group Salzburg is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with a special event: a Mini English Drama Festival. In addition to our own performance we are going to have two guest groups performing: the Pennyless Players from Graz and Entity Theatre e.V. from Munich. The festival will run from the 5th of June until the 10th of June 2017. Each performance will start at 19.30.

 

05.06.2017, 19.30: ART by Yasmina Reza (trans. by Christopher Hampton)

Performed by The Pennyless Players

The Festival will open on the 5th of June 2017 at 19.30 with the Pennyless Players performing Art by Yasmina Reza (translation by Christopher Hampton) in which the friendship between three men comes heavily under fire when one of them buys a white painting with three white stripes on it for a horrendous sum of money.

06.06.2017 -09.06.2017, 19.30: Dearly Departed by David Bottrell & Jessie Jones

Performed by the English Drama Group Salzburg

From the 6th to the 9th of June 2017 at 19.30, the English Drama Group Salzburg will perform Dearly Departed by David Bottrell & Jessie Jones, a black comedy about an American Southern States family coming to terms with the recent death of the family patriarch.

10.06.2017, 19.30: Numbers by Mar Gómez Glez (trans. by William Gregory for the Royal Court Theatre)

Performed by the Entity Theatre e.V.

Closing the Festival on the 10th of June 2017 at 19.30, will be the Entity Theatre e.V. with the play “Numbers” by Mar Gómez Glez (translation by William Gregory). The play is based on the true story of the freighter Francisco y Catalina, which was stuck in diplomatic limbo off the shores of Malta in 2009 and was not allowed to berth, because the crew had saved 51 immigrants from the sea.
